Saving and Giving has moved to savingandgiving.net! I hope that you'll all join me over at Saving & Giving's new home. I'm planning some fun giveaways to kick things off. I'm still working on the site, and I'd love to hear your input. Let me know which features you want me to keep. You can email me at savingandgiving@gmail.com. If you're currently an email subscriber, you shouldn't see any change in your daily email newsletter. I switched the feed over so that you should continue to receive your daily updates.

Almost-Free Silicone Bakeware

My first $1 pan from Easy Bakeware came in the mail today. What a unique pan! I've never baked using a silicone pan, but these bananas are crying out to be made into banana bread. So tomorrow may be my first adventure in silicone baking.

You can snag a silicone bread pan, muffin pan, mini muffin pan, spatula set, colander, measuring cup, or other items from the Easy Bakeware website. The catch is that you have to register for a partner offer. It's usually a trial offer that you'll have to cancel within 7 days. I did this last time, and the cancellation was done completely online. There was no high-pressure salesperson on the line, and it was simple. It looks like this month's offer will be cancelled via a toll-free phone number. I'm expecting it to be just as easy.

I just read a post on Hip2Save's site about the ethics of getting a free (or $1) item like this with the intention of cancelling. (Read toward the end of the comment section.) I agree that companies know that we plan to do this. Their hope is that we'll fall in love with their products and stay on board. That may or may not happen. I may or may not cancel depending on how impressed I am. But I know this.... I never would have tried some of these products if it weren't for the free offers.

Make sure that you're very careful about the cancellation procedure. Get a cancellation number if possible. Get a name if you speak to someone. I printed out a calendar for the next six months, and I'm writing myself notes on the dates when things need to be cancelled. Staying organized should help me get things cancelled if I don't want them.
