Disorganized Stockpile = Money You Didn't Intend to Spend

At least I learned this lesson with only $1 out-of-pocket. I was 100% totally almost kind of sure that I had stashed a bottle of makeup remover in my personal care stockpile, so I didn't work a purchase into my CVS scenarios for this week. I wasn't planning on going back to CVS at all. However, I used the last drop of my makeup remover last night, and I can't seem to find another bottle anywhere! In fact, I have no idea what all is in my personal care stockpile.

We live in a house where the only closet isn't even deep enough to hang a hanger front to back. In fact, the only closet we have is used for some ductwork and our vacuum cleaner. ZERO closets here! We got creative and turned a very small bedroom upstairs into a "guest closet" that doubles as our guest room and a closet for me and my husband. We put ClosetMaid stuff down one wall of the room and put a bed on the other side. This bedroom is INCREDIBLY small, but it certainly serves its purpose. And we don't have overnight company that often. We just make do for now.

That said, I also have very little space to stash a stockpile. I don't keep a huge stockpile on-hand, but we try to keep replacements for the things that we use (and run out of) most often. I have things stashed in 1/6 of a kitchen cupboard, a small built-in one-shelf cupboard in our dining room, and one of those put-it-together-yourself two-door cupboards in the basement. That sounds like a lot of space, but -- trust me -- it isn't.

Even with limited space, I'm finding that I need to be more organized. When you're cramming things in three different locations, you need to know what's where. Otherwise, you end up buying things that you didn't need to buy (read: eye makeup remover)! The good news is that I had some CVS Extra Care Bucks, and CVS just came out with their own brand of makeup remover that is supposed to be the equivalent of the Maybelline one I usually use. Hopefully the store brand will do the trick. I actually only had to pay $1 out-of-pocket, so this was a very inexpensive lesson. Fortunately I didn't run out of something that was expensive. I will raise my right hand and promise to get more organized so that I don't end up spending money I didn't intend to spend. I'd much rather have fun with my money than spend it on extra shampoo, wouldn't you!?!?
