I was filling up my van at Speedway the other day and saw a sign attached to the pump. It was advertising a deal offering you 1,000 Speedy Rewards points when you buy a $50 Speedway gift card. I almost ignored it. I didn't need a $50 Speedway card.
But my van was running on fumes, so I had time to consider the sign again. I go through $50 worth of gas pretty quickly. (I drive about 50 minutes to get to work three days a week.) 1,000 reward points would boost my total closer to getting a fuel discount.
I decided that I'm going to buy the gift card and take the points. I'm not spending any more than I would have on gas, and I'm getting a nice points reward.... a pretty good deal!
