Saving and Giving has moved to savingandgiving.net! I hope that you'll all join me over at Saving & Giving's new home. I'm planning some fun giveaways to kick things off. I'm still working on the site, and I'd love to hear your input. Let me know which features you want me to keep. You can email me at savingandgiving@gmail.com. If you're currently an email subscriber, you shouldn't see any change in your daily email newsletter. I switched the feed over so that you should continue to receive your daily updates.

Gratituesday: Thankful for a Day

I'm off today.... Sounds like a small thing.... But it's not.

For those of you who don't know me well yet, you may not know that I am a part-time stay-at-home mom and a part-time working mom. My husband and I have a pretty good arrangement where he's home with Emma when I'm working. And I'm home more than I'm gone. Until lately....

My work schedule is VERY flexible, allowing me to choose which three days I work each week. I've been able to schedule around preschool field trips, doctor visits, and a sick kiddo when I needed to. I just have to put in 160 days during the course of the year (August to July).

This year I was a horrible procrastinator, and I ended up having lots of days left to work when summer rolled around. In fact, I've been working four days a week for the whole summer. I know... those of you who are five-day-a-week workers aren't sympathetic. But my goal was to only be gone for three days a week as much as possible. Emma is a much more pleasant kid when I keep it at three days a week.

Today I am thankful because this is my LAST four day week for this year. Next Monday begins a new calendar year for our office. That means I'm starting fresh with a new opportunity to not procrastinate getting my days worked.

I am also thankful because I am off today. I'll be doing some baking for our church's home missions week. I'll be able to get an early dinner ready for my husband who needs to be at the evening service site by 5:00. There won't be any crazy rushing. We'll all be able to ride over together. Emma will be able to ride her bike with my help while he sets everything up. It's going to be a great family day! And for that I am thankful!
