Frugal Friday: Avoiding a Bad Hair Day

I have that kind of hair... You know the kind... It's not completely straight. It's not really curly. It doesn't even have nice waves. If I let it air dry, it ends up in this funky style of frizz. It just needs a little help in the mornings. I usually choose to help it be straight. That means using a blow dryer. My hair is also pretty long, so that means using a blow dryer really hard. In fact, that means blowing up a blow dryer at least once a year.

But blow dryers can be a little pricey. That's where planning ahead comes into play. I know that I'm going to have to buy a blow dryer some time in the next 12 months. So I watch for a good deal and buy one ahead of time. I keep it stashed under my bathroom sink.... just waiting for that fateful morning when my current dryer is going to go up in smoke (sometimes literally!).

I can't even explain the relief that comes on the day when the dryer blows up and I have another one on-hand ready to use. I don't have to spend the day with icky, frizzy, not-quite-wavy-not-quite-straight hair! Instead I can get out the new dryer and finish the task.

If I waited until my current dryer stopped working, I would not only have a really bad hair day, but I would also have to drive to the store to buy a new one. I wouldn't be able to take advantage of a well-planned sale with coupons either. Planning ahead for my hair dryer to blow up is one way that I save money. We stockpile food and personal care supplies... Why not a blow dryer?

If you smooth a little conditioner on your hair after you towel dry it and comb through it will help with the frizz and if you air dry it afterwards instead you might have waves. I also have this kind of hair.

Are we related?! I have that same kind of hair! And I always have a back-up hair dryer stashed away for when my blows (get it? haha)
