Update: CVS Extra Care Bucks & CRT Expiration Dates

I received some questions when I mentioned that our local CVS stores accept expired Extra Care Bucks and CRT coupons (the ones at the end of your receipts). Since all of our local stores, including those across state lines, take these coupons without regard to the expiration dates, I assumed that every store did this.

I decided to email CVS and get the information from the source. Here's the reply I received.

Please be advised that our ExtraBucks coupons do have expiration dates. The ExtraBucks that print for specific product that you purchase expire after 30 days. Your quarterly ExtraBucks, which print every three months, expire 45 days after they print. I am sorry that you were provided incorrect information at your local CVS/pharmacy store.

I have emailed them back to ask specifically about the CRT coupons, but the answer will most likely be the same. I'm guessing that my local managers' decisions to accept the coupons after the expiration date was simply a local decision. I'll keep you posted as I find out more.
