Kroger: Ho-Hum Isn't a Bad Thing

I almost didn't post this shopping trip for you. In fact, it's the trip we made last Sunday for this week's groceries. There weren't any stellar deals. There wasn't some exciting thing I got free. It was just kind of ho-hum.

But then I got to thinking.... I don't want you to think that I get an unbelievable bargain every single time I check out. That's just not the case. I usually highlight the great deals that I get so that you can also take advantage of them. But we all have those weeks where we just get what we need (including a package of King's Hawaiian rolls deemed "needed" by our husbands, right?). Here's what I ended up with last week at Kroger. (Click to enlarge.)

The cheese was a good deal. The turkey tenderloins were half-off, and the bread was a bakery markdown. I had coupons to make the lunchmeat close to $1 each. I even saved $.50 on each of my papers by buying them at Kroger versus where I usually get them. So, it really was a pretty good trip... Just nothing exciting. In fact, I didn't even save my receipt to give you the nitty-gritty details. If my memory serves me correctly, I saved 48%.

I don't want you to get the idea that every shopping trip has to be the best one ever. As long as I'm saving a lot of money (I consider 48% to be a pretty good savings!), buying what we need or will use, and feeding my family healthy food, I'm quite satisfied.

A 48% savings is great. It may not be your best shopping trip but I aspire to save that much.
