Kroger: Can't Keep a Frugal Shopper Down!

I was feeling better today, and I was getting a little stir crazy. Mix that with a Mega Sale at Kroger and some great coupon matchups.... and you get a girl who can't stay home! My husband was kind enough to drive me to Kroger and push the cart around so all I had to do was point and tell him how many of each item I wanted. Have I mentioned that he's a very patient man? Here's what we got. (Click the image to enlarge.)

Spent: $66.82 plus tax
Saved: $131.78 (66%)

After spending so little on groceries for January's menus, I was a little hesitant to spend $67 this week. But the Kroger Mega Sale is usually cause for us to do a little stocking up. We'll just make up for it over the course of the rest of the month. I'd like to still average out around $50 a week or less.

There were a few unadvertised Mega Event items that I ended up with.

Electrasol/Finish Tabs - $3.49
-$.50 Mega Event Savings
-$2.50 off coupon from 1/3 SmartSource insert
Final Price: $.49 each
Since the Mega Sale runs through next week, I ordered more Finish coupons from eBay.

Rotel Tomatoes - $.92 each
-$.50 Mega Event Savings
-$.30 off coupon from 1/24 SmartSource insert (doubled to $.60 off)
Final Price: better than FREE!
I also had a Buy 2 - Get 1 FREE coupon from my coupon buddy, Mary. I ended up getting 3 cans, using 2 $.30 off coupons and the Buy 2 - Get 1 FREE. It was an $.86 moneymaker. Thanks, Mary!!

Hunts Canned Tomatoes - $.99 each
-$.50 Mega Event Savings
-$.45 off 3 Shortcuts.com e-coupon
Final Price: $.34 each
If I would've had the $.45 off 3 coupon from the 1/24 SmartSource insert (doubled to $.90 off), I would have only paid $.04 each! I didn't get that one.

Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters - $2.99
-$.50 off Mega Event Savings
-$1.00 off printable coupon
-$1.00 off Cellfire e-coupon
Final Price: $.49

Not part of the Mega Event:
Kroger Brand Oatmeal - 2 for $3.00
Use the $1.00 off Shortcuts.com e-coupon
Final Price: $1.00 each

Great Shopping Trip!
I have a hard time when totals go higher than $25 in a trip *smile*.
We vacationed with my parents last summer and they insisted on paying for the house, so I insisted we pay for groceries when we arrived.
I planned ahead and travelled with as much from the stockpile as possible. My youngest sister (17) and I went to a Hannaford with the list of everyone's wants for the week. I almost had a panic attack when the total came to around $120!
My dear, cute sister knew and made sure I was ok! *big smile*
