My Kroger Trip: Spent $48.24 - Saved $27.40

This week's Kroger trip served two purposes. First, it allowed me to pick up the odds-and-ends needed to create a month's worth of meals using mostly what was already in my pantry and freezer. It also allowed me to get some fresh produce and dairy items. Here's what I ended up with. (Click to enlarge the picture.)

Spent: $48.24 plus tax
Saved: $27.40 (36%)

My favorite deals:

Kellogg's cereal/Kroger milk
Used 2 $1.00 off Special K printable coupons (no longer available)
Used 1 $1.00 off Apple Jacks coupon picked up from a blinkie machine a while back
Final Price: $5.00 for 3 boxes of cereal and 2 gallons of milk!!

Healthy Ones lunchmeat - $1.67 each
Used $.55 off coupons from 1/3 SmartSource insert
Final Price: $1.12 each

Kroger Brand Tilapia Fillets - $5.99 each
Buy 1 - Get 1 FREE sale this week
Final Price: $3.00 each

While the savings level wasn't that great this week percentage-wise, I spent about $20 less than usual for the week. Considering the fact that I now have everything I need to make meals for the rest of the month, that's a pretty sweet deal! I'm now looking forward to snagging the free and almost-free items for the rest of the month. My plan is to shop for those deals and fresh produce and dairy as needed.

Are you participating in the Eat from the Pantry Challenge? Has it already affected your grocery budget for the month?

Darn, I meant to do the cereal/milk deal and never got out to do it. Great job.
