Saving and Giving has moved to savingandgiving.net! I hope that you'll all join me over at Saving & Giving's new home. I'm planning some fun giveaways to kick things off. I'm still working on the site, and I'd love to hear your input. Let me know which features you want me to keep. You can email me at savingandgiving@gmail.com. If you're currently an email subscriber, you shouldn't see any change in your daily email newsletter. I switched the feed over so that you should continue to receive your daily updates.

Why Blog About Saving Money?

When I mention to people that I have a blog site about saving money, using coupons, and shopping at CVS, you can only imagine their varied reactions. I've gotten everything from blank stares to raised eyebrows to totally puzzled looks. If you've not spent much time in the blogosphere, you may also wonder why so many of us take the time to type out (with pictures even!) the deals that we work each week at CVS and other stores.

Good question!

First, as you can tell from the name of my blog, I love share. I guess my parents taught me well! I just think that if God blesses you with knowledge that can help someone else, you need to share it. It's amazing to look back and see how much money I've saved our family in the past few months. I hear friends, family, and strangers talking about how expensive things are and how little they can afford to buy. Sometimes it's all I can do to not stop total strangers in CVS and ask them how they could possibly pay full price for the items in their carts. True confession time... When I was at Kroger last week, I handed the lady in line behind me a couple of coupons for items she was buying. I'm not sure if she was grateful or if she thought I was just nosy, but I knew I wouldn't be using the coupons. Why not share?

I've also found that blogging about my CVS deals makes me get really creative in my planning. I spend a little more time than I normally would scouting out the best deals. I don't want to miss anything that might help my family or yours! I am more diligent about getting my deals together early in the week. If I wait until later in the week, not only are many of the sale items gone from the CVS shelves, but my readers may not find out about them in enough time to take advantage of the deals.

And last, I love to write and be creative. Blogging combines the best of both as I write about creatively stacking coupons and earning Extra Care Bucks.

If you've ever thought about starting a blog, maybe now is the perfect time. It's free, it's fun, and it's a great way to help others along the way! What are you waiting for?

I stumbled upon your blog last week, and it automatically went on my favorites. Thank you for not only sharing ways that you help your family save, but also for contributing to other families by donating and sharing ideas. My fiance is in the Air Force and I know there will be many military families that appreciate you passing on your expired coupons as you mentioned above.
I also appreciate that you know the difference between stocking and hoarding, as there are some bloggers who I've noticed display greed as a quality they are proud of.
I'm just learning how to save, so I appreciate every bit of your blog and I hope you continue for a long time!! Best wishes and thanks,
Christina
