FREE Batteries at Staples

I stopped by Staples today to get some FREE batteries. Right now you can get a 20-pack of Duracell Batteries (AA and AAA size) for $12.99 and get $12.99 back in the form of Staples rewards (will be sent in January). There is a limit of 2 per week per customer. This week's deal ends today, but you can get these next week (11/30 - 1/5) and the following week (12/6 - 12/12). That means that you could get a total of 6 packs of batteries and get it all back as Staples rewards.

I got two packs today along with some little binder clips and used a Staples rewards check that we had received. I paid absolutely nothing out-of-pocket and will be getting back all but $1 of the rewards that I used. Not bad!

If you don't use many batteries, these would also be great gifts for people who have kids. Toys eat batteries! Or you could tuck them in with a baby shower gift basket.

If you happen to be shopping today (Saturday), you can also use the 10% off one item coupon HERE.

Thanks, Money Saving Madness!

Staples: $50 Printer Trade-In This Week

Staples is once again offering an additional $50 off when you trade in ANY printer. You must purchase an HP OfficeJet PRO or a qualifying HP LaserJet printer. If your goal is to purchase a laser printer to make printing coupons cheaper, I recommend the HP LaserJet P1006. It is on sale for $99.98 this week, so the $50 instant savings for a printer trade-in would make it $49.98. So far my dad has one, my brother has one, and we have two. We are all very pleased with them.

Staples Backpack Deal Also Good Online

One of my blog readers just commented that they don't have a Staples store anywhere near them. That prompted me to check online to see if the 100% rewards-back deal was good online too. It is! You can order a backpack from Staples.com (direct link to backpacks HERE) and get the same deal that's going on in the stores right now (see HERE).

If you choose a backpack that's worth $50 or more, you'll also get free shipping. If you don't have a Staples store near you, bring the store to your front door!

I checked the website for the other free-after-rebate items, and I didn't see them listed as rebate items. Those must be in-store only.

Staples Trip - 7/19

This is another great week for school supplies at Staples! We stopped by for a backpack and ended up with lots of goodies. They're all free after rebate or Staples rewards. Here's what we got.

1 Swiss backpack (Regular Price over $100) - $89.99
1 Staples brand 8-1/2 x 11 photo paper - $12.98
1 Zebra Cadoozles (0.7 mm) mechanical pencils 10-pack - $2.99
1 Zebra Sarasa retractable gel pens (medium point/black) 5-pack - $4.99
1 Pentel Handy Lines retractable assorted highlighters 4-pack - $4.99

Rebates:
$89.99 - Backpack*
$11.98 - Photo paper
$2.99 - Pencils
$4.99 - Pens
$4.99 - Highlighters

Final Price: $1.00 plus tax for everything!

*Note: The backpack rebate comes in the form of a Staples Rewards check, not a cash rebate. You must have a rewards account set up in order to receive this reward. If you don't have a rewards account yet, you can sign up at the store right before you check out. The rewards checks will be mailed in October.

My mom and dad also have a Staples rewards account, so we also bought a fun backpack for Emma! She's just about ready for another year of preschool to start!

I think my husband is officially hooked on bargain shopping now. He's the one who scored the sweet backpack deal this week! It has a padded, shock-resistant compartment for his laptop. We paid about $8 tax for everything. I shudder to think about how much we spent on Emma's preschool supplies last year. I'm so thankful that I discovered the wonderful world of bargain shopping in time for this year's back-to-school shopping!

FREE Backpacks at Staples - Starting 7/19

The Staples Sneak Peek is out! You can view next week's ad HERE. They're offering backpacks 100% FREE! You purchase ANY backpack and get back 100% of the price as a rebate. This is awesome! I'm thrilled because it means that you don't have to hunt through the backpacks for certain ones. The ad says ANY backpack! Yay! (Limit 1 per mailing address.)

Don't have a school-aged child? Maybe you know someone who struggles to outfit their children for back-to-school, and you could share with them!

Staples $5 off $20 Printable Coupon

If your local newspaper doesn't carry the Staples ad, you may not have been able to get one of the $5 off $20 coupons that everyone was talking about last Sunday. If that's you, then you're in luck! There's a printable version of it HERE. You can see all of this week's Staples deals HERE.

Staples Trip - 7/12

We decided to make the back-to-school sale at Staples a family affair today. I wish I would have taken my camera! My daughter, husband, mom, and dad all went along. Mom and Dad each got the deals too. (It's contagious, isn't it!?!?) Here's what I ended up with.

Here's how it breaks down.

2 Staples copy paper reams - $3.69 each
2 Bic Pen 5-packs - $1.00 each
2 8-packs of pencils - $.01 each
1 Pack Staples Photo Paper - $9.99
1 Crayola Large Crayons (for preschool!) - $3.29
Merchandise Total: $22.68

- $1.00 x 2 Bic pen printable coupons (HERE)
-$5.00 off any $20 purchase Staples coupon
Out-of-Pocket: $15.68 plus tax

Eligible Rebates:
$7.36 - Copy paper ($3.68 x 2)
$8.99 - Photo paper
Total Rebates: $16.35

We just about broke even with tax!

I will warn you that finding these deals is not for the faint of heart. Absolutely nothing was marked with the sale prices. You had to match the exact picture in the ad or ask an associate. Because of this, the associates were being pulled in every direction by customers. There were even people lined up outside the store before it opened! There are some good deals to be had if you're willing to hunt for them!

You can see other shoppers' great deals over at the Grocery Cart Challenge.

Another Opportunity for an Inexpensive Laser Printer

If you thought you missed last week's laser printer deal at Staples, you have another opportunity. The deal is also good this week. So, pack up your old printer, and head to Staples. You can turn in your printer, buy another printer (regularly priced at $179 or more), and get a $50 rebate (Visa giftcard). If you've been looking for an opportunity to get an inexpensive printer for coupon printing or everyday printing, this might be a good time!

Inexpensive Laser Printer

If you've been printing coupons from the Internet on an ink jet printer, you've probably noticed your ink supply dropping much quicker than before you were a couponer. Many of the printable coupons come with full-page ads! But these Internet printables are invaluable. I've found that using a black and white laser printer is MUCH more cost-efficient. And Staples is making it even less expensive this week. (Offer ends Saturday.)

If you have a printer that you can recycle, grab it and head to Staples. They have a deal now where you can turn in any printer and get $50 off another printer. The only catch is that the new one you buy has to retail for at least $179 when it's not on sale. Not a problem!

I own an HP black and white laser P1006. It's a workhorse! I've had it for almost a year and have only replaced the toner cartridge ($80) once. **I also own a printing business and print all of my envelopes and invoices on this printer, so you would probably replace it even less often.**

This P1006 retails for $179.99 but is on sale for $99.98. If you turn in another printer, you can get it for $49.98. That's cheaper than replacing the toner cartridge!! You would have to buy multiple ink refills to get the same number of prints that you would get with the pre-loaded toner cartridge in this printer, so you would also be saving money on ink/toner.

There's no coupon required. Just check the Staples website to make sure that your store is participating. This might be a good way to save money printing coupons that save you money!

*** Remember to remove any ink/toner cartridges from the printer you're turning in. Redeem those for $3 each on your next Staples rewards statement. ***

Reams of Paper for $1 or FREE

If you love to print online coupons, you probably don't love to continually buy the paper for printing them. Staples is generously helping us with that! They have introduced new packaging for reams of their store brand paper and are selling reams in the old packaging for $6.99 each. There is a $5.99 rebate per ream -- NO LIMIT! The nice thing about this rebate is that it is a rebate check, not one of thier pre-paid Visas.

Jenny at Southern Savers recommends using the Office Depot coupon HERE to sweeten the deal. Staples accepts competitors' coupons, and this one is for $10 off any $50 purchase. Jenny recommends this deal:

Purchase 8 reams of paper @ $6.99 each
Merchandise Total: $55.92
Coupon Discount: -$10.00
Total OOP: $45.92 plus tax
Rebate Amount: $47.92

It's not every day that you can make money and end up with 8 reams of printer paper! If you have a Staples rewards card (which you should!), you will also receive $4.50 in rewards on your next statement. I'm headed there tomorrow!

Remember: This deal is only good for the packaging shown above. Double-check that you're purchasing SKU#554638. If you want to see the details of this deal, read HERE.
